Permit Area History

Posta Del Giudice is located in eastern central Italy. The area falls within the Bradano basin – a foredeep trough of the Southern Apennines. The main plays are for gas in Pliocene turbidites and Mio-Cretaceous carbonates.

Four wells were drilled within the permit area between 1972 and 1998. All four were located away from the allochthonous front and all were dry.

The S Pietro prospect was mapped by ENI but was not drilled. It comprises aseries of Pliocence turbidites overlying an inverted Mio-Cretaceous thrust fold. The Pliocene section is characterised by strong amplitudes and flat spots on seismic data.

Recent Permit Activity

Apennine Energy was assigned the permit in 2007.  The Company is required to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment in order to convert the licence to a full permit. To date only G&G data studies have been undertaken on the licence.

Apennine’s strategy is to evaluate the resource potential of the S Pietro prospect and consider this for drilling. Other leads will also be evaluated.
